Protecting Teen Health

Young adults need access to information and education to help them make healthy decisions. Comprehensive, age-appropriate, medically-accurate educational programs can help them stay safe and make healthy, informed decisions so they can better protect themselves against STIs and unintended pregnancy.

Planned Parenthood supports and promotes communication between parents and their teens, but not all young adults have supportive families. Requiring parental consent for reproductive health care can put young adults in danger if they have a family history of violence, or discourage them from seeking health care at all. We believe it is important for teens to have access to safe health care.
