Access to Birth Control

For many women struggling to make ends meet, the cost of birth control can often be too high to make the family budget balance.

Programs exist at the state and national level that can help a woman in need afford a consistent and stable method of contraception. Too often prevention programs that help reduce unintended pregnancies are targeted by anti-abortion legislators for cuts or elimination.

State and federal family planning programs help make birth control accessible and affordable to all Iowans, while reducing the number of unintended pregnancies, and saving the state money.

For every $1 invested in prevention, up to $4 tax dollars are saved on the costs associated with unintended pregnancies.
